Poems: 3 around the Lha*

1.  Sacred

well-fed black cow

walks among people

eyes open

shits

innocent

along

spatter

taking in the wonder

holy

the path

2.  Disturbance

On stone

the red-faced monkey

with six kids

absent

red-assed

wife

looks out angrily

on the gray-haired man

hastily snap

ping

moves toward

photos

on a cell

 3. circular path

soft puppies

on harsh stone

sleep

not play

or hide for shade

in winter

sun

*The Lha, the Dalai Lama's residence in Dharamsala, India, is surrounded by two circular walkways, one of fifteen minutes, one of forty-five minutes, which many Tibetans walk clockwise daily.
